The "Forefront Studies Program for Civil Engineering" is a three-year post-graduate program leading towards a doctoral degree. About 7 students will be allowed to enroll in the doctoral program in October 2013 with a scholorship granted by the Japaneses government. Accepted applicants are granted financial supports including exemption from tuition fees, a monthly stipend about 150,000yen, an annual travel grant for field trips and air ticket from/to the students's country.

The Forefront Studies Program for Civil Engineering is highly evaluated by the Japanese government. As a result, we are permitted to accept about 7 students for October 2012 admission as we did before.

1. Download the application materials from this website (click "ADMISSIONS").

   * This yearfs application will be put on ourwebsite at the middle of October      2011. For your reference, please look at a previous application.

2. Fill out the application forms. Send them back to the Foreign Student Office (FSO)    together with the other required documents by the application  deadline of    December 25, 2011

   * If your submission seems to be delayed, please inform FSO beforehand. 

3. Each applicnt shall be notified of the results of the preliminary selection by the

    Nagoya University by the beginning of Mrach 2012. Notification of results of the     final selection by the Japanese Government will be made by the end of June 2012.

   *  We MAY hold some interviews through E-mail at the end of January        2012. Be available at that time in case of being interviewed.

 

 
 

  Require Documents

 
 

 

Although the latest applicationis not available at this moment, please be advised that applicants begin preparations for collecting the following certificates.

(1)  Certificate of a Masterfs degree, Certificate of Bachelor degree

(2)  Certified academic records of masterfs course and undergraduate course (to be issued by the university authority)

(3)  Certificate of national registration

(4)  Two letters of reference addressed to the president of Nagoya University on the prescribed form.

  (As for the form of recommendation letter, we will not change the form. Therefore please be advised that applicants use the previous application.). 

One must be from the university president or dean, and the other from the academic supervisor or employer.

(5) Certificate of English Proficiency, if any

(6)  Five photographs (4.5 X 3.5cm) taken within the past 6 months

(7)  A copy of the applicantfs masterfs thesis and brief description of the research being carried out in the masterfs program

(8)  Technical papers published in journals, if any

(9)  Certificates of academic awards, if any

 

 
 

  Accommodation

 
 

 

Students of the Program may be allowed to stay in the Foreign Student House (Ryugakusei-Kaikan), the International Residence or International Omei-kan during the first 6 months of his/her stay in Japan. However, due to the increase of foreign student admissions to this university, all students may not be able to avail of the university housing facilities. In this case, the supervisor of the student will make the necessary arrangements for a suitable private housing.
