NUGELP and Forefront Program Closing Ceremony AY2021 springs

 

NUGELP and Forefront Program Closing Ceremony AY2020 Spring was held on 25th March in the full bloom of cherry blossoms. 13 master course students and 3 doctoral course students from Japan, Thailand, Myanmar, and Indonesia successfully completed the programs. We congratulate on their graduation and wish all the luck in their future!

 Congratulations on your graduation. These certificates acknowledge that you acquired the basic knowledge and skills to play an active role as an environmental leader and a civil engineering leader in various places in the future. 
 Currently, conditions of society change so rapidly. On the other hand, infrastructure development, sustainable development considering environmental issues, have to be conducted considering several decades after. So we have to be flexible to adjust to the change of the society but also we have to find out what are the core which will not change. Human resources with such skills are demanding. I believe you have the base of that. If you face some difficulty, remember what you have learned. I wish your grate success in the future.

  On behalf of student representative, I would like to express my gratitude to our Professor, Lecturer, and faculty staff who are part of this international program either Forefront or NUGELP. During our 2 years study, I could say that I have never felt stressed because our Sensei are the best consultant to help me and suggest me kindly and gently. Also, it is my honor to be in the part of Environmental System Analysis and Planning Laboratory by Professor Tanikawa. We did many fun activities apart from studying and doing research, and got a lot of support from Professor with a great care. I will never regret to be a student at Nagoya University.
  Regarding Forefront and NUGELP programs. I can say that they are not only about teaching student in English language. But they provide comprehensive case study from various countries as well as different solutions in environmental problem solving from those countries including Japan. They are obviously effective programs since our Professor also invite guest speakers from various Japanese companies which also have branches in international countries. Moreover, we also have a chance to visit those companies and conduct field works apart from studying in the classroom. I still remember when I went to international study tour in Singapore and conduct an internship in Tsukuba. This valuable chance will help me for my further carrier and enhance cooperation between my country and Japan. Above all of us, because of Forefront and NUGELP program, I have a great opportunity to meet my lovely Japanese and International friends to exchange our knowledge and perspective. This will also strengthen our relationship regarding international cooperation.
  During Covid 19, we had a hard time to study, do activities, and conduct a research. But in keeping distance like this situation, our professors, lecturers, guest speakers, and our staff have tried their best to support us via zoom, Microsoft team, video calls, and online processes. Thanks to all of us too, that we have had patience and attempt to study until we graduate. In the future, we really hope the situation will get better to welcome all of new students who are going to study after our generation. I am sure that our professors, lecturers, guest speakers, and GSES staff will provide the great opportunity to them like they offered to us
  And last but not least, I would like to mention about Sustainable Development Goal 17, the partnership of sustainable development. It is not only one individual or one country to succeed the sustainability. We need a good collaboration between all countries around the world. So, Forefront and NUGELP programs can go through this point. After graduation, we might have different paths to work, but I am sure that we have the same target: to work internationally, to apply our knowledge to help other country for sustainable development, and to cooperate with our friends.
I am looking forward to meeting everyone again as cooperate workers and decision makers.
